Restoration of Being: Taylor Yeo

This exhibition will open soon.
We look forward to welcoming visitors to share reflections on the exhibition.

Restoration of Being presents the final body of work by Toronto-based artist Taeyouk Yeo (1971–2025). Created during the last years of his life, the works reflect a profound meditation on human existence, fragility, and the quiet transformation that occurs at the edge of life.

After studying sculpture in Busan, Korea, Yeo built a long career in Toronto as a 3D animator and ceramic artist. In the final chapter of his artistic journey, he turned to new materials and forms to confront questions of violence, memory, loss, and spiritual restoration. Through porcelain, leather, and metal, his works explore the tension between destruction and renewal, presence and absence, the physical body and the light beyond it.

Organized one year after the artist’s passing, Restoration of Being serves as a memorial exhibition honoring his life and artistic legacy. The exhibition traces a contemplative path through four stages of his final artistic exploration: The Origin of Violence and Humanity, Melting Man, Remembrance: What Life Leaves Behind, and Empty Bowl: From Void to Light. Together, these works reveal a journey that moves from the harsh realities of human nature toward a quiet state of acceptance and inner peace.

As the first solo exhibition presented by Artistry Community, this project also reflects the platform’s commitment to supporting artists and preserving their voices through digital exhibitions. By sharing Taeyouk Yeo’s final works with a wider audience, the exhibition invites viewers to reflect on the fragile beauty of life and the enduring power of artistic expression.

Through this exhibition, we hope visitors will take time to engage deeply with the works and the questions they raise. In remembering Taeyouk Yeo, Restoration of Being becomes not only a tribute to one artist’s life, but also a space for contemplation, empathy, and quiet dialogue about what it means to exist, to create, and ultimately, to let go.
